Life doesn't stop when the bus pass starts
I'm a 60-something mother, writer, writing mentor, and purveyor of canine day and holiday care. Once upon a time I had a glittering career; once upon a time, I lived in Notting Hill. But, when I hit middle age, I became invisible. So, in 1998, I moved to England's stunning South West, where I live in a 300-year old house in the middle of nowhere with my familiars, two rehomed dogs - a black Labrador and a Saluki-lurcher-border collie-cross, and a tabby cat, not to mention many hundreds of books and wall-to-wall music. We are surrounded by wildlife and I no longer have time to worry about visibility (or lack of).
In August 2010, I was diagnosed with grade 2 breast cancer . . . but now I've recovered. Much to my amazement, I have rarely felt better.
My blog is a bit of a rag-bag: stuff that interests me, odd people and bizarre occurences, books that have gripped me, news that has stopped me in my tracks, sounding off about lacklustre politicians and royals, heart-stopping moments, music that makes my heart sing, and the compulsion to write - all stirred together with a liberal dose of 1960s nostalgia (captured on film and otherwise).
my family and friends, books and more books, writing, dogs, cats, films, books, watching the wildlife, photography, music (Bob Dylan to Bach) and trying to pretend that I'm not really a pensioner. A senior citizen? Moi?
