The Rough Diamond - the latest

Rdiamond

The Rough Diamond is taking it easy today, just having a quiet bask in the sunshine. He'll be doing quite a bit of that in the coming weeks: the news from the vet was not good. Still, as he (the Rough Diamond, that is) pointed out - he's so wise about these things - he's already an old boy, it might not be the cancer that does for him but some other tedious age-related thing or another.

In the meantime, he says he plans to take one day at a time and enjoy what's left of his life as much as he can. And could I please pass him the Bonios.

Comments

The Rough Diamond is a very wise old doggie, taking one day at a time. Hope he enjoys many more days of sunshine, bless him.

I'm sorry you didn't get better news. He might be right, and the vet might be wrong.

When the vet took a basal cell carcinoma off the toe of my 3 year old dog, he sucked his teeth and tut-tutted and said it would probably come back further up the body and invade something vital. For the next few years he examined all his lymph nodes carefully every time we visited for any reason. The cancer never did come back or spread, and he died from congestive heart failure at thirteen and a half.

Funny - the insurance company always excluded cancers on the basis of that lab report but they paid out thousands of pounds (GB) for other stuff including MRIs. Tee hee.

Hopefully the Rough Diamond will have a good long while yet with you to enjoy his bonios!

Such a philosophical dog, he has learned a thing or two in his long and happy life. Peace to you Rough Diamond.

Rough Diamond is probably saying "What a wonderful life I have had" and quietly contemplating his blessings.

The Rough Diamond is a clever Diamond. I offered a visitor to my home, in her early 80's, some chocolates and she said "No thank-you I'm on a diet". Surely, as Rough Diamond knows, there is a time to indulge freely.

Goodness, thanks everyone. How exciting at my time of life to discover I've got friends all over the place - even Australia!

Message from Zeb the Spotted One: where there's Bonios, there's a happy life.

That should read "Where there ARE Bonios. Dalmatians. They never learn.
